About Transportation Services
Who We Are
Transportation Services (TS) is a department within the division of Business and Financial Affairs (BFA). We apply BFA's motto, "in the Business of Serving SDSU" by helping affiliates get to, from and around SDSU's campus. We believe that student and employee success depends on the ability to efficiently and affordably arrive, circulate and depart SDSU's facilities.
TS is a diverse team of professionals composed of field operations staff, office staff and student assistants. We are community caretakers providing a multidisciplinary range of transportation services. Our team includes subject matter experts in transportation planning, people-centered transportation, parking management, transit pass programs, car sharing programs, communications, customer service, financial management, and more.
What We Do
TS provides comprehensive mobility services, solutions and planning for the SDSU community. We employ a diverse team of full-time staff and student assistants who coordinate and deliver parking services, transit passes, traffic control, micromobility, car sharing, vanpooling, and other transportation needs. In addition to internal staff, TS manages several vendor contracts to deliver services efficiently, affordably and professionally.
To ensure parking availability and compliance with the California Education Code, TS implements industry best practices for parking management. SDSU, the university's San Diego campus, offers more than 13,500 parking spaces that require maintenance and upkeep with funding from user fees. TS is a self-supporting entity, which means that tuition, fees, and central funds are not used to build or maintain parking. In order to mitigate traffic, reduce parking demand and move towards a more sustainable future, TS plans and provides transportation demand management (TDM) strategies in alignment with SDSU's Climate Action Plan. SDSU on the Move is SDSU's TDM plan, which helps SDSU advance its goals by focusing on people-centered transportation, while also reducing traffic and parking challenges.

Transportation Services advances SDSU's mission by delivering people-centered transportation and parking services that support student success, employee well-being and community connection. Through data-informed decision-making, responsible stewardship of resources, and collaboration with campus and regional partners, we reduce barriers to access, promote Vision Zero safety and advance SDSU's climate action goals.
